Global AI business opportunities are booming. South Korean memory manufacturer SK Hynix has successfully deployed high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and achieved eye-catching profit performance. In the third quarter of this year, SK Hynix's operating profit is expected to exceed 10 trillion won (approximately US$7.3 billion) for the first time, becoming the second Korean company to join the "profit 10 trillion won club" after Samsung Electronics.
Korean media "BusinessKorea" reported that according to the latest forecast from financial information platform FnGuide, SK Hynix's third-quarter revenue is expected to reach 24.67 trillion won, and operating profit will be 11.34 trillion won. If the estimate is true, both revenue and operating profit will set a new record high.
SK Hynix’s operating fortunes are booming, mainly due to the surge in demand for HBM driven by the boom in AI applications. In addition, as the industry prioritizes production capacity on high-margin HBM products, traditional DRAM supplies are squeezed out and quotations continue to rise, further boosting SK Hynix's operating capabilities.
The latest report from market research company Omdia shows that in the second quarter of 2025, SK Hynix relied on HBM's leading position to increase its DRAM market share from 36.9% in the first quarter to 39.5%, making it the world's largest DRAM manufacturer for two consecutive quarters.
