Stomatitis in dogs can be divided into cataract, vesicular and ulcerative stomatitis according to the nature of inflammation. Among them, cataract stomatitis is more common.

1. The causes of canine stomatitis:

1. The most common cause is that thick and hard bones, sharp teeth, nails, iron wire, etc. directly damage the oral mucosa, and then secondary infection and stomatitis occurs.

2. Secondly, it is accidentally ingesting quicklime, ammonia water, moldy feed, and irritating drugs with excessive concentrations.

5. During ulcerative stomatitis, erosion, necrosis or ulcers can be seen on the mucosa.

3. Drug treatment for canine stomatitis:

1. Generally, 1% saline, 2-3% boric acid solution, or 2-3% sodium bicarbonate solution can be used to rinse the oral cavity, 2-3 times a day.

2. If the mouth is foul, you can wash the mouth with 0.1% potassium permanganate solution.

3. When there is too much saliva, you can wash the mouth with 1% alum or tannin solution.

4. When there is erosion or ulcer on the oral mucosa or tongue surface. After rinsing the mouth, apply the wound with iodine glycerol (1 part of 5% iodine wine, 9 parts of glycerol), or 2% gentian purple or 1% sulfamide glycerol emulsion 2-3 times a day.

5. For severe stomatitis, delicious sulfonamide alum mixture (10 grams of long-acting sulfonamide powder, 2-3 grams of alum, put in a cloth bag); or taking Chinese medicine Qingdai Powder, have good therapeutic effects.

4. Preventive measures for dog stomatitis:

1. Eliminate the cause: Remove foreign objects pricked on the oral mucosa of the dog, trim sharp teeth, and stop taking irritating drugs orally.

2. Strengthen care: Feed liquid food, drink clean water frequently, rinse the mouth with clean water after feeding, etc.
