Generally speaking, Shar-Pei dogs give people the impression of short hair, blue tongues and wrinkled skin, but this British Shar-Pei named Murphy has a natural lion-like mane, making it a star in the shelter.

The three-year-old male Shar-Pei, Murphy, was recently sent to the British animal protection organization DogTrusts by his owner on the grounds that he could no longer keep him. He immediately captured the hearts of the staff as soon as he entered the shelter because he was different from ordinary Shar-Pei dogs. He had a lion-like mane around his neck, which was 6 inches long (about 15 centimeters). He looked like Aslan, the lion king in the movie "The Chronicles of Narnia".
The employees are now working hard to find a new home for Murphy. They describe him as having an independent personality, liking to have his own space, and being quite loyal and affectionate. They hope to find a calm, patient family with only adults at home to adopt him. Some Shar-Pei dogs have a recessive gene that causes their 1-inch hair to grow six times as long.
