The black mouth of a cat may be caused by dirty things, or it may be caused by fungal infection or folliculitis. The owner can try to wipe it with a tissue or cotton swab. If it can be wiped clean, it may be that it is stained with some dirty things, so don’t worry too much. If the skin around the cat's mouth is not clean, or if it is found that the skin around the cat's mouth is also accompanied by symptoms such as hair loss, redness, and itching, it may be caused by fungal infection or folliculitis, and you need to consult a pet doctor in time for medication treatment.
1. Dirt
If the black thing on the cat's mouth can be wiped off, it may be the dirt that it touched after going out to play. This situation is not a big problem. You can wipe it gently with a cotton swab dipped in warm water or a moist tissue. As long as there is no abnormality in the skin around the cat's mouth, clean it up.
2. Fungal infection
If the cat is not only black in the mouth, but also has symptoms such as hair loss, redness, and itching, it may be a skin disease caused by fungal infection. If conditions permit, it is recommended that the owner take the cat to the pet hospital for a scraping microscope. If the diagnosis is a fungal infection, anti-inflammatory or antifungal spray or ointment is required.
3, folliculitis
If the owner feeds the cat with greasy food, or uses a plastic bowl to feed the cat, it will cause black and black cinder-like substances around the cat's mouth. This is a sign of cats suffering from folliculitis, commonly known as black chin. If not treated in time, it will become inflamed, and in severe cases, it will lead to suppuration. Therefore, if the cat's symptoms are mild, the owner can treat it by improving the cat's diet and cleaning with the medicinal bath shampoo. If the symptoms are serious, anti-inflammatory drugs are also required.
