British media Daily Telegraph reported that Calvin Phillips will be included in Manchester City's 25-man registration list for the new season of the Premier League and will have the opportunity to revive his career.
Phillips was loaned to Ipswich last season, and played for West Ham the previous season. After returning to the team this summer, he has been making physical reserves for the new season.
Although Phillips has not played for Manchester City since the 2023 Club World Cup, he is expected to get a chance to enter the roster under Guardiola in the new season. Phillips moved to Manchester City from Leeds United for £45 million three years ago, after he was successfully selected for England while playing under Bielsa and played a key role in the Three Lions' UEFA European Cup 2020 runner-up.
However, Phillips has never been able to enter Guardiola's core plan, and Manchester City has only won 12 Premier League appearances in their debut season. He was loaned to West Ham the following season, and the loan period started with two major mistakes and red cards. He got more opportunities in Ipswich, playing in half of the team's Premier League games, but was still loaned when he returned to Manchester City.
