Relevant US authorities said today that they removed 67 dead cats and 99 live cats from a filthy house in upstate New York.

The action took place on the evening of the 23rd in Wright, New York State, near Albany.

The Times Union of Albany reported that the owner put the dead cats in plastic bags in the freezer and stacked the live cats in cages from the floor to the ceiling.

The house emitted a stench of cat urine and feces, which prompted neighbors to call the police, who then went to investigate. Owners may face prosecution.

The manager of the animal home that took in the cats said she had visited the house before to try to help the female owner, and said the woman might have a hoarding disorder.
