For any dog, eating only muscle is not enough. The ancestors of pet dogs eat entire prey (not just muscles), including bones, internal organs, intestines and fur. Some of the important nutrients consumed from these foods are not found in the muscles.

Homemade food:

If you make your food, you need to have a detailed understanding of the dog's specific nutritional needs, the nutritional value of different foods, and the dog's eating habits. Moreover, you should also understand the methods of making and storing food. Because different treatment methods for food will have an impact on the content of its nutrients. Providing adequate food for your dog requires a lot of time, energy and expertise.

Some dog owners like to prepare food for their dogs themselves, and if so, different foods should be added gradually to adapt the dog's digestive system to this new food. Meat, eggs, cheese, and bread are often used as food for dogs. If these foods constitute the vast majority of dog food, some vitamins and minerals must be supplemented.

Commercial pet food:

Reputable pet food manufacturers produce pet foods that contain sufficient nutrients and have excellent food quality. These foods have extremely wide variety of ingredients and are easy to use. There are two types of commercial pet food - complete and supplementary. Complete can provide a balanced diet, while supplementary foods need to be used with other specific foods, such as canned cookie mixtures. The label on the product will indicate the type of food.

Commercial pet food usually comes in three forms - dry, wet and semi-wet. Most of the moisture has been removed from the dry food, which is economical and practical. Pets can be eaten directly or add some water or gravy to it before feeding. Wet pet food (eg canned food) is not dehydrated and is best for dogs. The moisture content of semi-wet foods is between the two.
